The Witcher: Blood Origin x AURUM

Last year, Aurum’s head designer Guðbjörg   was approached to design some unique jewellery pieces for Netflix’s new fantasy series – The Witcher Blood Origin– a spin off from the hugely successful The Witcher series starring Henry Cavill.

The series is set more than a thousand years before the events of The Witcher, and follows the journeys of seven outcasts in an Elven world who join forces in a quest against an all-powerful empire.

The breathtaking backdrop for many of the scenes were filmed in Iceland and the South Iceland's Nauthúsagil waterfall provided one of the most dramatic locations.

The complex jewellery designs were needed for the many of the actors starring as elves in the new show including Lenny Henry as Chief David Dalor and Mirren Mack as Princess Merwyn who both wore Aurum’s jewels.

The design process took several months to ensure the jewellery not only fitted the stylist’s brief, but were comfortable for the actors to wear during long days of filming.

Guðbjörg chose and adapted the ear crawlers from the brand’s Asterias and Kolga collections, as well as creating other ear cuffs inspired by their Erikaand Kolgacollections in silver, gold and oxidized silver.

Zacaré, the elven sage, played by actress Lizzie Annis, wore custom pieces made by  Guðbjörg  from Aurum’s Rán collection, which takes its inspiration from the Norse sea goddess.
